RE: Hitching assitance kit

.....Not perfect, but better than DW, and quieter too. :B
You are in so much trouble mister !! :B:B:W:W
Mine made DW happy as she did not like what I would say when she would miss where I needed to be.I now can look in the morrow and just back until the balls touch every time.So much better than saying bad words at DW and her smacking me beside the head.:B
But for real better than dents in the bumper and doors or tail gate

RE: Hitching assitance kit

I would like to know your thoughts on using this kit. It looks like it has two telescoping rods with a ball on top of them. They look to be maybe magnetic mounted. I can't tell from the pic. Has anyone here used them and are the worth the money? I don't need them if the aren't going to work! Thanks for your imput......John :@
That I can answer.Yes they do work after you get use to them.Harbor fright has then for around ten bucks a lot of the time.I pull with a Van so I have to open the rear doors to see them. But have helped a lot.As DW is not the best when it comes to backing me up to the hitch.

Still here, just keeping a low profile.
Yeh...the economy might not be hitting on all cylinders but not as bad as the media would like it to be or portrays it to be.
.:)
That depends on if you are one of the ones out of work or not.I am not as I am retired. But many down here are and not by any fault of there own.

RE: inverter

Rich,
RV inverters tend to fall into two categories. A smaller inverter would be a "point of use" inverter while a larger model would be a "whole house" inverter. If you just want to wire up a single outlet then your 400 would work like a champ as long as your tv doesn't exceed the rating. Some folks just run an extension cord to their inverters for this very thing.
If you want to take the plunge into a whole house inverter, Xantrex has a nice product line to handle all the inverting/charging and switching. My rig is probably way more than what you're looking at doing, but it'll give you and idea by looking at the wiring diagram here.O
But then Ozhoo pulls a pent house while most of us just go camping.:B

RE: Miles drivin in a day

A little over 1100 Good View, Va. to Key West,Fl.This year we made a little over 800 due to a medical emergency. But any more camping we try to stay around six hours or less on the road.If I was in a hurry I would not be camping. Some times we will make around 535 on the way home if we stop by my DF`s son`s house for a few days as we have seen every thing there is between there and home.He lives right off I-75 in north Georgia so on the way home from a lot of our trips and he has a hook up for our travel trailer so free camping with out being a bother to them.As it is north of Atlanta we will leave about 7.00 at night and drive straight through to New Smyrna Beach Florida with out much traffic.I am a night owl so not a safety hazard as would be for some people to drive late at night. When there I go out and get a good nap of a few hours before we leave while my wife visits with the grand kids and her son.Don`t mean that to sound like I don`t like them I do.But get my winks in that last few hours before we leave.

RE: Interesting article? Hope there is no truth to it.

In history and the bible every great power that had more than one language, culture and God has fallen.
Also we have given all the manufacturing in the world a way.Even to Budweiser. So we no longer control any thing,We may still produce protects but the companies are mostly foreign owed so we don`t control our economy now.If Japan,Mexico,Canada and China decided to stop shipping to the US where would that leave us.Even the big three as they are called.A GM,Ford,or Chrysler is not much good with out a drive train. How many of your clothes,TV`s and every thing that you use are made in the US now.If the world desided to run a embargo on the US we would be out of everything in a year or so but your house and some food and you would have to grow that.

RE: Staying hitched up

If we are overnighting in a Wal Mart we try to get as level as possible and leave it at that. In a CG we put down the front jack and the rear stabilizers so the TT doesn't move around as much.
Some places consider you camping in place of parking if you put the jacks down or any thing out like a chair so best to leave them up in parking lots and rest areas.

RE: Staying hitched up

Why do people worry about the weight on the TV springs? A truck with a fixed load has the weight on the springs all the time. So do most truck campers unless they off load. Eight hours of tongue weight won't hurt your springs. I have a level on the front of the TT that I can see from the truck. I can usually jockey a bit and get pretty level. If you are unlevel enough to ruin your refer you will probably roll out of bed. Newer refers can be a number of dgrees out of level without problems.
I put it down sometimes to make the trailer a little more stable.

RE: Staying hitched up

We leave it hooked up usually. We do put down tongue jack to take some load off TV springs. If for more than a night, or if we get in early, also put down stabilizers.
We do the same.Just make sure the trailer is close to level if running the refrigerator. As it can cause the refrigerat to crystalize
if so far out of level it can not circulate and over heat it.

RE: Future without NEW Pick-Up Trucks?

I guess Toyota will have to start building a 1 ton crew :h
If you have not noticed they are getting bigger every year and look a lot like a Ford.I also noticed a Kia SUV pulling close to a thirty foot trailer in a camp ground this week end.Don`t know how well it did but it had tags from Canada and we are in Florida so it must do OK with it.

Why no microwave on 30 amp service?
I do run the microwave just not with the A/C on.As that is the highest amp draw next to the A/C.I just do not push things to the max.

RE: Any old Rock n Rollers out there?

In Silver Springs Fl. we buy a seasons pass for less than $60 and get a concert every Saturday. We have seen The Beach Boys, Hermans Hermits, Wayne Newton, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Anne Murray, America, and many many more. Pretty good deal for $60 bucks
Same here and stay at Silver River State Park.We only live about and hour and a half form there but makes a nice weekend with out the drive home after a day and night of fun.:)

RE: Electrical issue

If it is tripping the breaker and the battery s will not charge with the two breakers off sounds like that would be a good place to start. Are your breakers not labeled?Do you have any 12 vote power with the two breakers off that are tripping.with trailer plugged in with the breakers off that are tripping.

RE: camping

Just the wife and I but it is the most relaxing way to spend time together. No phones no TV now and then depending on where we camp mostly in state and federal parks. We are retired so camp at lest one time a month some where. Most are with in three hours of home and longer ones to camp close to relatives. Not that we don`t love them just rather have our own box to sleep in.With our kids close to gather in two states we don`t get why don`t you stay with us instead of them.We just go to a park in the middle of them and they can come see us.Then we move on to the next bunch kids and other relatives stopping in between to play a few days.
Also you meet the nicest people in camp grounds it is just not like a motel or what ever.Plus being old we camp for half price in federal parks and in our home state of Florida. so from 7.00 to 12.50 a night it is hard to beat.Even other states at 12.00 to 28.00 dollars it is still a good deal.We did just drop around 15,000 in a trailer but some people pay that for a #### timeshare and have fees of 500.00 to 900.00 dollars a year for one week vacation.Just the yearly maintenance fees for that week of vacation will buy us 60 to 90 days of fun camping. If you like resorts it will still buy over 30 days a year at camp grounds with cable pools golf you name it plus WIFI.And you know who used the bed last night.
PS I forgot about the cooking part.My wife is the cook and depends on what time of year it is.When it is cold a big pot of beans or chilly is good.We cook out side most of the time on a portable camp stove.
Hamburgers, hot dogs ,Eggs in the morning.Every thing seems to taste better camping.

RE: Is RV travel down a lot?

It is down in Florida and what is here are mostly local people.Week ends are still pretty much full. But Sunday thought Tuesday you can pick you spot.We camped at a high demand camp grounds in good times was not 15% full other than the week end.The only place I have seen full here was in the Keys at the state parks. And a few spots open there.
